The Pronova-O2™ Automated Prone Therapy System Design Innovations
During the creation of Pronova-O2, our engineering and clinical product design team prioritized the clinician experience with the use of our product. When our Chief Technology Officer, Kevin Wilson, was asked about his design process, he answered “from small details like using consistent colors for all touch points to large features like ensuring that all adjustable parts remain attached to the product to minimize lifting requirements for the caregiver, the design team took into account clinician experience to optimize all aspects of the Pronova-O2 design.” Some key features we are excited about ICU clinicians working with and seeing include:
Non-removable parts
To ensure the process of placement is smooth, we designed our product to ensure there are no removable parts. Items like the side supports and inner leg support are simply stowed below the surface with the touch of a button to easily prepare the surface for placement. An added benefit of having no removable parts will make for easier product adoption, as there are reduced steps to placing and securing patients in the surface.
InteliDerm™ Single Patient Use Kit
Another key consideration was the patient’s risk for pressure injury in the prone position. Understanding the key elements of pressure injury are more than just pressure, we developed the InteliDerm™ Single Patient Use Face Pack and Chest Wedge. Our proprietary InteliDerm system provides active airflow to the face and chest wedge, impacting the microclimate of the patient’s skin. Another benefit of InteliDerm is that these items are single patient use, reducing risk of cross contamination that is often seen with reusable products.
